New Whites Detectors?

Well I've detected most of my life and I think updates are painfully slow. Just for starters Whites should introduce a less exspensive three frequency detector say around $900 to $1,000. I realize there isn't a lot of money in the detector buisness but really how hard would it be to offer some options. Minelab offers three prices for their FBS technology, so could whites. As of now it's either $1,500 or ten year old technology. What I would really love to see these computer wizards come up with is a new TR discriminator. Imagine true non-motion discrimination! My old white V supreme could snag a dime up to six inches deep in light minerals and I could get a half at eight plus. With TR detectors you can litterally find a coin right next to large iron. A TR's discrimination has zero falsing, when you go over large iron it just shuts off, as you pass over the edge of the iron if your audio raises higher than your threshold setting you have a target, no guessing, if the tone rises you got something. The main problems were minerized areas and the need to expertly tune and scrub the coil. Whatever company is the first to offer non-motion discrimination will be king. For now I would love to see a spectrum jr. . On the bright side the slower detectors develop the longer things remain in the ground waiting for us to find them. Good luck out there, Darryl.

General H........The Garrett Scorpion has Calibrated TR Discrimination.................

The main problems are the need to scrub to get any depth so you need to be in well manicured areas and you need to retune constanly to get a five inch dime. This process makes searching extremely slow and difficult, I'm way to old and lazy to hunt this way. Also forget minerized areas with the old TR's. I don't believe the companys have honestly tried to improve TR's for thirty plus years. I keep thinking with the new computer technology they might be able to overcome these problems to a reasonable extent. Oh well, it is fun to think about whats coming next. Every year I hope to see something new, after all thats part of the fun of detecting, dreaming of the dream machine. Save me some silver, Darryl.

My first machine was a White's 3000. It was a TR and absolutely suked in mineralized soil. But after learning on that machine, the 6000pro was a whole world apart. Still love the 6000 and don't think many machines can beat it's performance.
It may be an old truck hauling dirt, but it still hauls just as good as some fancy truck with power windows and seats and an fm/cd player. It's heavier than the newer ones but rugged.

My Vision has all the bells and whistles, cost more of course but blame that on the cost of everything these days.

I'm sure White's has something in the works that would suit the MAJORITY of detectorists but doubt they will do some novice thing that may impress a select few.

Manufacturer's are also limited by law how much EMI a machine can emit so anything electronically to enhance this is probably out of the question. Anything else is just an added bell or whistle to make it easier to ID a target, which I think the Vision is exceptional at.
The Vision has only been out a couple of years. Once a product has proven itself and sells, like a good truck, why change it. Even truck manufacturers stick with a best seller for several years.....but they research other possibilities.

White's may not be putting anything out there right now and not saying whether they are or not, but that doesn't mean they don't have something going on behind the scenes. No company survives by being stagnant.

personally i think white's needs to slim down their lineup and improve whatever they have left...there's really no need to manufacture a MXT, an MXT Pro and an M6(this hurts cuz i love my M6!!!). I would discontinue the M6 and MXT and only make the Pro version. There also is no reason to have as many models in the Prizm lineup as they do. I can't tell you the last time i heard of someone buying a brand spanking new XLT...by getting rid of that machine you also eliminate a whole series of coils specific to just one unit. Something also needs to be done with the DFX...the price should be lowered. It is no longer their top dog and is priced close enough to the V3i that anyone considering purchasing one of the two will most likely (and wisely) decide on the V3i. Periodically culling your offerings allows one to spend resources on whats left. There are a few models that need attention. as someone previously pointed out the TDI has known issues. Their BHID is in need of a moderate makeover(how about non floating coils, the ability to change coils and headphones in the field, an automatic ground tracking system). Whites makes a good product. The last 2 years they have been busy launching the V3i. Hopefully they will have time now to make some minor changes to the rest of the lineup. There's really not a whole lot out there offered by other manufactures that would tempt me to jump ship on a land detector. The AT Pro has some really nice features but i'm not much of a Garrett fan. Plus the release of that unit has been plagued with problems.

my Goldmaster 4/b will go deeper and find more than any cheap entry level new discriminating detector.........period I would skip a gmt for a TDI...if i had the money...i would like more depth....but theres lots of bedrock out there..and they are proven Gold getters and since i dig every thing, any ways i have found lots of cool artifacts...and deep i found a shovel head 1850 era like 14 inches down i dont know if thats normal but she started quiet...kept getting louder and i dug a hole you wouldnt believe to get that target...14 inches.........its my understanding that whites is having issues keepin up with orders, repairs, and development...they arent huge and there fully American made and i dont want that to change at all.
