There is a new website that will list old mines and landmarks in the 11 Western US "Mining States" starting in Southern California and working north. Some of the mines just have locations, some have detailed descriptions of the mine, its history, minerals present, geology and surrounding areas. About 95% have latitude and longitude coordinates, so if you use a GPS you may find this feature useful. There are about 350,000 mines in the database to be loaded.
