Hey all, been extremely busy with work these days but managed to get out on wednesday to a spot I've been eyeballing on a map from 1905. Today the land is owned by the county park district and fair game:icon_thumleft:

I hunted for about 4 hours and my detector (and brain) were on overload with signals the entire time. I was also very pleased with how clean it was, it seemed like almost every target I dug was an interesting one. Throw in some silver and my first Indian Head cent ever and I couldn't have asked for more...so what the Mercs I found were two of the worst I've ever seen:laughing11: I had a blast:headbang:

Here's the pick of the litter:

And my first ever IH:

Does this look familiar to anyone out there? Native American token of some sort? I'm clueless...

And this little guy also has me intrigued..its very tiny only about 1/4-3/8" tall and reads "Virtue Excerptas" It is curved as if it was mounted to something round and has a spot on the back where it looks like a post or pin would've been? It doesn't appear to be aluminum or silver?

Also this button didn't appear to be very old to me (I was thinking early 1900s) but I would love to know more about it:

Thanks for looking folks and HH!

What a great mix!! Wish I knew what it all was too! Thanks for sharing, was fun looking!

Yes, the mystery coin is Israeli. Just to confirm what Ironhorse said.

I, too, like the Masonic? emblem.

Seems like a place you need to hunt again.

HH,
Anita

Thanks Chuxter, I was very busy at this site and as I said pretty overwhelmed.. There were so many good signals that I had to force myself to slow down and then I began cherry picking the best ones. It was the most fun I've had detecting yet and my first 3 silver day:thumbsup:

HH,
Chris

Very cool finds!

The Masonic? thingy is neat

mystery coin is aluminum Isreali coin

Thanks for the ID, any idea of age? My first thoughts were hebrew and what looks to be Arabic around the edge of the one side but not being very familiar with either one I wasn't really sure. Then I saw the wheat and I guess I was hoping Native American..ah well..wishful thinking I guess.

The Masonic plaque? wall/door hanger is one of my favorites also, from what I have found out so far it is from the " jr order of united american mechanics" and it appears to be brass, but I'm trying to learn more about it myself.

HH,
Chris

Thanks Anita, I'm going back bright and early tomorrow:occasion14:

I tried to find the virtue excerptas in Latin and Greek and came up empty handed. So got nothin for you. Those are some amazing finds. I love the Masonic thing. I've never seen one with an arm and hammer in the middle. Would love to know more. WH. HH

Very cool, great finds, and to think you only just got started. Congrats!

Your Masonic piece is pretty large, so I'm thinking the small pieces with shields and mottos might be masonic also. Could be a place to start with your web search. The Israeli coin is a 1 agora piece, probably made between 1965 & 1977.

Nice finds thanks for sharing. Thinking u will be back at that park today !!! Good luck and hope to see more

Sent from my iPad using TreasureNet

Well that looks like a great hunt to me, I guarantee you that you will find more there

Great assortment of finds, nice going on the Jr. Warden Masonic thingy, and the whizzer is a cool find. Finding good luck tokens and items always seem to add to the day's finds.
