I recently broke out my dads Relic mag 6 that hasn't been touched to the ground in years. After some research, some forum advice, & a manual found online I was able to get it tuned well & get some practice in the yard. I also recently learned of a civil war encampment near me which inspired getting the ol' green machine up n running. In the last two days in my yard I have gained confidence in my machine. I recovered mostly trash of course, but did manage to find a dime, some pennies & a nickel. I have learned that in finding the nickel I have my detector set right for jewelry also. I was happy to see that in my trivial finds in the yard the variety of metals recovered was positive. Meaning I had finds ranging from iron & coins to old school scissors & hot wheels. I am confident that when I get to the site my detector will register coins, jewelry, guns, knives, buckles etc. When I do register a "hit" I immediately toggle to discrimination & most finds are shown as trash. So far the detector only lied twice on the dime & nickel. This doesn't mean much as of now considering I am compelled to dig regardless lol. Every hit gets dug right now, as I learn more & obtain more experience I may operate differently. If anyone uses a Relic mag 6 or use to & can offer any advice it would be much appreciated, also if anyone has experience hunting war sites what are some other items I may run across? What besides the obvious "Guns, bullets, buttons etc.
