Just got one of those inexpensive USB microscopes and thought I would try it out.

With the weather finally getting better, hopefully I will have some nice finds to post with it later this week.

This is just a example of the on board camera zoom. At least as far as I can tell. Might discover more zoom with continued use. Also need to adjust lights for better contrast/color etc. Kinda neat.

Least magnification.

That is very nice. never heard of one, is it stand alone or hooked up to your computer? I can't see the dates at all in the field. Where did you get it?

ABLEGRID® 5MP 20-300X USB Digital Microscope Magnifier Video Camera with 8-LED, Base Stand

It plugs into your USB port and displays on your computer screen.

You can find some a little cheaper or some a lot more expensive.

I tripled the length of the stand that the camera slides up and down on and made it much more versatile by doing so.

One I've been looking at is the Celestron Micro360. Sells for about $100 last I checked (with imager). I see the Ablegrid sells for about $60.

I run windows 10 and set up was a breeze. The included CD also loaded and worked without any hic ups.

I replaced the hollow 5" tube with a solid 12" steel rod and mounted it to a heavier base. that greatly improved the versatility of the camera by allowing larger items to be photographed.

Sad that the first thing we have to do nowdays is rebuild what we buy in the store. :tongue3:

I hear ya!!!

I happened to luck out and I found this huge, heavy piece of Lucite at a thrift store for $4.99, the same day the camera came, and added this 5/8 threaded rod. Some day when I run across a solid , smooth 5/8" rod, I may replace the threaded stuff, but for now it's working fine.

Nice camera, look for some 5/8 ground rod or maybe brass stock.
