Hi,
I am getting a bit more serious than I have been in the past. I dig mostly coins and such in parks, lawn and beaches. I need some advise on a couple of things. What type of headphones should I get? What type of tool is best to stick in the hole to pinpoint where the target is? I don't mind spending some good money if it really makes a difference. I just don't want to spend a bunch on a tool that will give me no better results than a cheepie. Thanks for your help.
Mike.

Well... You can look at it several ways.

It's not the tools that are expensive... it's my time! When I work, I want the best tools to do the job because they make the work easier, better, and faster to do. The same goes for my fun time. Cheap tools rob you of your time and are the highest price you can pay for a tool!
I use a DetectorPro Pistol Probe Pulse Pinpointer and DetectorPro Black Widow Headphones to go with my two Sov GTs.

Best at ya, Mike!

DetectorPro headphones are built for rugged outdoor use and are a good, lasting investment that you should not be sorry for. I have a set of Blackwidows and a single-earpiece Rattler and they are great headphones.

The problem with sticking something into a hole to locate a target is that if it is tough enough to dig it will damage a coin (or other object). The electronic pinpointers warn you when you are getting close. I like to turn a plug and then use a SunRay pinpointer - not as a probe to move additional soil or poke further into it but just to see if I am close. Then I dig a little more and repeat.

In a clad spot where I am just coin shooting I am less careful. Turn a deep plug and then first see if the coin is in the plug, then check the hole.

A good Lesche/Predator digger is another good investment. Costs a bunch more than a garden trowel but will do the job well and for the long run.

Man, there is A LOT of good headphones out there and they do make a difference. Just got to pick one that's right for you. I have been through several pairs and am still looking even though my current set (RatPhones) work very well. They are no longer made so I need to find a good backup in case they break.

As for pinpointers, again there are A LOT of them, BUT, IMO only one that works with your detector giving the same advantages, sound, disc, etc, Sunray!
