New to detecting

Welcome to the site and to the hobby.
I am not from South Carolina, but I do have some ideas. If you have family members in and around the area you may want to ask about hunting their home sites. Check the local parks around the playground equipment especially in front of the swings (Have had success with this). Do some local research at the library about old homesteads and such. Here in my home town their was a music instrument factory that had the old style bandstand. I am sure that it was used for company picnics and gatherings. Anytime you have a large gathering of people in one area you are sure to come up with something.

Goodluck in your searches.

Welcome to the hobby and forum! You will have a ton of fun with the detector an no doubt will soon be fighting over who's turn it is to use it.

Garrett offers an excellent book called, "THE NEW SUCCESSFUL COIN HUNTING," for around $12.95. It tells where to hunt in places you never thought of looking. You can find it on their web site or in the back of Western & Eastern Treasures magazine.

Any questions on operation of the detector, someone here will be glad to help.

Thanks everyone. Today i found a lot of bottle caps and pull tabs.LOL. Man just the excitement from them is hard to describe. Wait until i find a penny.LOL. I am hooked. Just need to learn this thing.

I suggest learning in the sand boxes of playgrounds. There is always coins to find in there. You will learn what sounds good and what doesnt.
