New to Detecting with BH Fortune Hunter

Hello PAdigs...welcome to the wonderful world of Fortune Telling....I mean Fortune Hunting!
You could start practicng by laying out all types of coins, meta, silver and gold items on your floor . Get a big pot of dirt and bury items in it to get the feel of things.....or just sit and read all the information on this site until spring thaw! ;)

new to the forum also. Welcome! You will learn alot here! Also this off season is time to research your hunting grounds!

I guess I have a tip for ya being a newbie and all,....dont fry bacon when yur naked! just kiddin

with the new machine have someone tape different coins in various locations on the back of a large piece of cardboard, layer down and find and id the metals on the other side pinpointing and all with a pin and see how accurate you are. Another tip, hold the coil acouple of inches above the board when your doing this.

Good Luck, See you soon in 'Today's Finds'.

That's a good way to practice by taping items to the back of large piece of cardboard...I'll try it. The Fortune Hunter must be fairly new, alot of people haven't heard of it. I think it's pretty close to a Lone Star as far as features and price go.

Welcome to our ADDICTION and a really great forum

You will meet alot of great people here and if you ever have a question just ask someone here will know the answer.

For those of us who do live in areas where the ground freezes we use the winter for research.

A great tool for research is Google Earth sattelite photo's just type in your address and search your area for such things as this.
This is a map of a wooded area 2 blocks from my home. This area was in the 18th and 19th century a major farming community and if you look closely you can see the remains of a grown over road. This road used to be the major route from the outlying farms to the old Farmers Market and shipyards in old Norfolk. Where the farmers would load their wagons with their harvest and take them into town. It was a good two day journey where they would deliver their goods to the market, and since theyonly got into town 3 or 4 times a year they would gather at pubs with the other farmers and talk of their yearly crops.

They would leave to return home often drunk and stop for the night. In their drunken states would often drop there coin purses on the way. So we could find it 100 years later. Get the idea..

Again Welcome and Happy Hunting.

I've had my detector (BH Fortune Hunter) out a few times now and found some coins nothing old..yet and lot of other stuff mostly trash :(... until I got too tired of digging junk and tuned it out even if it meant missing out on all those gold rings ;D I also ordered a 4" coil to help aid with searching those trashy areas. All in all a good detector for the $$. Thanks again for the tips.

Welcome to a great forum with lots of knowledgeable treasure hunters. Just learn your machine real well and the good finds will come. Good Luck !
