got permission from a house a few houses down from me, the yard was huge and the house was old, I thought for sure thered be more there. Im pretty sure this yard has been excavated or tilled at some point, I was digging the crusty zincolns at 3-5 inches??, I got tired of digging mid 1980s clad and matchboxes. All in all not too shabby, 3 wheats, the cool token, the ornate lock thing, and my first half:laughing7:yeah not a silver half, but indeed my first found half, 1974, oh well, betterluck next time Photo11151629.jpgPhoto11151630.jpgPhoto11151631.jpg

you should be able to tell with your AT Pro that they are crusty pennies. They give off a scratchy sound. I don't dig them up. A solid sounding , say 76, 77 , is either a uncrusted penny or could be a silver ring.

Nice assortment of finds! The pliers work? I like finding tools I can use, but then again, I'm a little odd! Lol !

that's the kicker, 99 percent of the time its a cruddy penny, but one time I had a solid 77 and It was a small sterling ring. that half I dug was a solid very loud 92

Congrats Cjon. I have found 2 halves and neither of them was silver either. They sure get you excited when you see the size in the hole, don't they?

Still nice to find a 50c piece and wheaties, but yeah, it sounds like it had some fill dirt brought in at some point. Sometimes you can't tell, if it's a big site, it could have been brought in only one area, and not others.

Don't write off the place just yet. Give yourself time to figure the lay of the land, so to speak. :)

I wouldn't worry about figuring out what signals you can skip.

Nice start!

Nice finds. I've yet to find my first half dollar, but one of these days.

I don't skip many signals at private properties, sometimes im guilty of skipping 40-45s at shallow depths though

I know. It is a matter of time and how many holes one wants to leave. But, I wouldn't completely give up on 'em. Plan a 40-45 day, and dig everything. Might prove interesting.

In the meantime, try testing some tiny little rings in your yard. See how they ring up for you. (put it in a baggie though, just in case. ;) )

Nice finds! I have often wondered how hard it would be to lose such a large coin like a half dollar. But, evidently it happens or we wouldn't be finding them. Well, you finding them, ha! I haven't found one yet.

Nice finds! I also was sooo happy when I found a half, even though its not silver.1974 or 73 was the one I dug up to.

Looks like a good day to me! A coin is a coin........bailed me out of many a tight spot! Keep up the good work......:icon_thumright:
