Hey guys, thought I would pass on some pics of my new sluice that I built for my 2.5" dredge/highbanker. I combined 2 designs to create this super sluice box. I must say, after 2 weekends using it, it kicks serious butt over the A52 and the Bazooka Gold Trap in gold recovery. The area I have been dredging is all fine (flour) gold. The A52 was losing gold out the rear and the Bazooka was not catching it all either. When I had them working together, bazooka first and A52 catching the tailings I would catch most of the gold but still was losing some flour (not much). This new sluice build is not losing any thing at all. Not even black sand was escaping! I would do 2 test pans every 20 minutes of my tailings and not once did I have any gold or black sand. To me that a win over the other sluices I had.
So here's what I did, I combined the design of the Popandson sluice with the sluice design of the goldgrabber dredge by Alan Trees. My sluice starts out at 10" and flares out to 17" with a total leangth of 48". I have deep ribbed rubber matting on the bottom with miners moss in the middle and raised expanded for the riffles. For the raised expanded I used 2", 3/4" and 1/2". Total cost to build this was around $150 and worth every penny.
