Started hunting a new site a couple days ago, former homestead, now a field.....found a few wheats yesterday and not much else.
I was not sure on the age of the house that once stood there, and was guessing from the wheats and other finds it was early 1900's,However after today I might have to rethink that, find below my treasures for the day, including my first Half Dime ;D.enjoy the pics and HH all Soup

UPDATE: After some replies to my post, seems I had a better day than I first thought,I was really suprised when I dug the buckle/plate?,and even made a trip back to the truck to wash it off and admire it for a bit, seemed to be really old,but thought it couldnt be a civil war relic, did some searching online when I arrived home but couldnt find anything like it...just glad we have knowledgable members here on Tnet..thanks for the ID guys....now I just have to find those silver wreaths and the keeper

Also added some better pics, did a little cleaning..afraid to do much more....

Don't worry about me! ;D

Wow, nice plate!!! I noticed the hole on the left and first thought bullet because there looks to be trauma, but then noticed the damaged area on the right. Was that area on the right repaired in addition to the left? Either way, would you mind sharing your technique? REALLY WELL DONE!! :icon_thumright:

Hi Kyphote, thanks for the reply,as to the repair,it was more of a hope for the best effort with the handle of a tooth brush.the areas that looked like holes where actually raised bubble type scaley stuff.
The damage I believe was from the reaction of 2 types of metal, the buckle and the wreaths that are no longer on it,and the fact it was in the ground with fertilizers and such.
I hope that answers you question...and I no way recommend this as a cleaning method..and am only guessing on the cause......Thanks Soup
