Greetings fellow TN hunters.
35 degrees today so I bundled up and headed for a site where [according to an old map] an old homestead stood in the 1800s. I talked to the land owner and got permission to hunt.
I had to walk a half mile to get to the spot as the road is no longer there.
I found the spot [about 150 by 150 feet] and it payed off.
It snowed for a while and drizzled but after finding the LC I stuck it out till dark and found the button and misc.
Best luck, Merf

Awesome :) The rest has been said... Love to see other cold-weather hunters out there :)

Great finds!

Thanks Jim---- This cold weather is bad news----Frozen ground- :(--Metal detector withdrawal. :(

Merf,
Great info on how you pinpointed that old location. Very cool.
A BIG congrats on your finds. I must say, I've really noticed your posts and finds getting better and better.
You are a great coin & relic hunter Merf.
What is that hook looking thing with a bird head in the center of your finds?
Great hunt,
MM

Nice LC Merf! Sometimes you have to brave the elements to get those rewards. Your perseverance is really paying off this year.

Thanks Ed [I think] ;D
If you didn't have to work all the time we could hit more of these spots. :D
Its tough working nights and having the family life :-\
i been out maybe 3-4 times in the last 3 weeks and one time was only for 2 1/2 hours (total maybe 20 hours total) :-\
I haven't done an all day hunt since we ripped up that aluminum dump homestead :D
ps im sending you a present in you PM's

Excellent post, and a great LC there. Glad to see you're finding so many great coins at those house sites. In KY, we average one coin per house site--if it has been abandoned for the last 75 years. I'm glad that your coin was a LC. Well done.

Great job Merf. Your pictures are excellent and the site looks great. You were justly rewarded for your research.

I've averaged 3 on less then 75 YG (years gone) with tons of aluminum
and 5-6* on 75+ YG with almost no modern trash *with your usual buttons tossed in
in farm fields as of this year
