Digging a new field which is huge, we've already found two sites but both faded pretty quick, will continue to look for that next iron patch!

Finds were a neat buckle, ramrod thimble (my 3rd this year - weird) 4 toast coppers including a 1700s Hibernia, and of course the usual odds and ends. (The second pic is the first hunt finds which I didn't post)

Neat Eagle backmark button. Too bad the design is covered, but I think it's an eagle holding a shield and an anchor within, I have found another along this same river.

1785 Artillery button.

and last but not least... Spanish slump is over with this 1778 Half Real. Not a real beauty but it's a start! :-X

Nice, IP! WTG!

I found my second half real a few weeks back but I think it had been in a fire, as there was black stuff that won't come off with acetone or ammonia. Any suggestions for getting that off?

What ratio of colonial silver do you find to coppers? I have yet to find a colonial American silver yet. How many years should I expect? :)

Sometimes those coins can be tough to clean, maybe try a coin dip or Tarn-X. I have had some success with the Tarn-X but it's pretty harsh stuff.

Ratio of coppers to silver, man that's a tough one because everything seems so random. For example I have never found a single silver coin in my best military button area, the sites were loaded but no silver. Then there have been other of our normal type sites and i have found two in a day several times. All these places are generally the same age so why silver in some but not in others? The other thing that makes it tough to really compare for you because a lot of our lg coppers are early 1800s tokens and they are quite common at the old sites. Want a raw number for the 2 years I was out quite a bit... 250 coppers - 2 or 3 early silver. Of course hunting where you are 250 coppers would likely turn up many more silver.

At least there weren't any chunk-blowing, yacking sessions by you or one of your buddies. :D

Hey, maybe we can get Colonial kirk yacking again with this pic. :icon_jokercolor: It's what happens when the boys stop by for :coffee2: :D

Weren't your three more random type finds, not really off sites? If that is the case you should do very well if you are able to find some old sites.

well a start would do me just fine :P

GOOD button

Romeo-1 posted this picture on some "picture-less" post before, and I said to him, "I swear I see Iron Patch in there." :D Am I going crazy or did you take it to the streets before? :D
