Never stop looking. Stopped by an old township building that was an old school and community center in an old town not far from home yesterday. Only had a few minutes but the site looked promising. First coin out of the ground was a 1908 IH at less than an inch. Got two memorials and then just checked the number of signals there as time was up.

Large number of high coin signals at varying depths to 6" so I'll be back later today. There's always more places to hunt!

That's gotta be a rich area! What part of the country are you in? Can you put me and a dog up for the night?

Hey trgams, that's Elgin Illinois, so it's gotta be a big neighborhood, eh? Anyway, got only a brief time to dig due to weather and time limitations but pulled out two more IH and a V nickel, along with a pocketful of clad at the new site. Will be back there later in the week. Meanwhile Lab Rat, next time your up around Chicagoland you'll have to get a room elsewhere, the cat don't take to starngers, let alone hounds.

Thonolan, made it back twice for shortstops and found current clad and two wheats since the original scan. Have not had the time to dedicate a thourough search but the area is not large and does date back to the 1850's. It's a small village that has seen little to no development in the last 50 yrs.

Today it will be local hunting only, a train depot that has been getting reworked by the local historical society has just been regraded. Found no change there in the original hunts a couple years ago when they first dug out around the building, but did find some of those old marbles and a nice US mil collar pin w/crossed muskets.
