New silver Umax Beach settings?

Hi my new silver umax arrived today from kelyco I ORDERED THIS SUNDAY ! WOW! 2 day shipping for free! It was ground and it took 2 days. I didn't get my headphones because I was expecting to get everything next week. I went to the beach and got 9 cents of new coins. I know the best scoops run about $200 so I didn't order one yet and that is why it took so long on the beach trying to sift sand in my fingers! I might just get a small $30 one off ebay for now. I've heard to set it at F in foil in disc and max sensitivity? I want to find gold jewelry and after a few beach trips I will try a few local tot lots. I only went out for 45mins with my best friend my dog . I just wanted to learn the machine a little bit I'm new to detecting and need to read up some more.

I set mine just above iron, I can run the sens. at full in the dry stuff but need to turn it down until it stops chattering when I hit the wet stuff. Be sure to wear a thin comfortable pair of gloves when you are digging and sifting thru the sand to protect them from any sharp object you may locate. You will want to get a pinpointer asap, you can make a sifter from a 5$ plastic grain scoop purchased from a farm supply store, just drill some holes in it to get you started. Good luck.
