Mumszie - It was probably a good thing that you did'nt get in the water - At least on the Gulf side
because it was so rough out there I did'nt even think about getting in after I saw it down in
Ft. Desoto and I am sure that it was the same up in Clearwater - The wind was howling so I just
hit the dry sand - but I have heard that Clearwater beach is a very good place to find lots of nice
stuff - you just have to bite the bullet the pay because all the public beaches you have to pay -
Its a sign of the times - but don't give up looking because there is alot of place's to hunt for free-
Ft. Desoto is one of them - you just have to get a permit at the office - Cavedweller

I've been to Ft Desoto but it is way too far away for me. Guess I will have to leave all the good stuff down there for you. ::) Bite the bullet huh? Well one really good find would pay for a lot of parking I guess but I think I will wait until I have a little more experience under my belt before I start paying. I've heard that they find really nice things in front of some of the big hotels down there such as the Tradewinds. There must be someplace that people go to swim nearer to me that is not a pool.

bad thing about the tradewinds is the parking situation also. you got metered parking in the county lot south of the Dolphin, don't park in the publix parking lot unless you want to pay to get your vehicle out of impound, they sit on top of the store and actually watch people unload and cross gulf blvd, then they call the wrecker. I guess it's a sign of the times having to pay for the beach.

Mumszie,

I sent you a message of a more or less "top secret" spot. Let me know if you need more information about it.
