New permission turned out to be a dud

Had an exciting permission. It was a horse farm multi generational. 65 acres. A rock wall in the woods and wagon roads nearby. Turns out the place was real quiet in the ground. Didn't find much and threw away just about everything. I might have part of a round buckle idk yet. Found modern clad and lot of junk iron. I had high hopes but it didn't pan out. I'm sure it's happen to you guys before. I think it was my worst hunt ever for the 8-9 hours I was swinging .

Yet sometimes it takes a few times to uncover the treasures that lurk in the ground.

Example a button a buckle, return hunt lead, bits of brass.
3rd time same site Button, bell, Gold coin.

Granted this will never be repeated, but recovering better items sometimes does happen,

Also the original homesite could be on those 65 acres, that's a big chunk of dirt to cover in 8hrs.

Nathan W, pepperj makes excellent points. Given that the site is that large and is multi-generational, imo it would be worth going over several times. In case you haven't, I'd look at any old maps/aerials of the property to see if there are any promising areas you overlooked. Even if you re-try and still disappointed with the finds, just think of the exercise you got. Good luck!

Ok, now I understand that.
I was going to suggest maybe checking the machine.

Quaker sites were void of coinage, but had buttons and buckles though.

I usually look a field over then hit every high point in the field. Some real nice surprises have been discovered with this method. Folks settled on high points for drainage, and not to get flooded back in the day.
