I got out for a bit, but it wasn't nice, wind chill was about 4-5 below freezing, kinda took the fun out of it.

Got my oldest coin this week past so was quite stoked at another decently recognizable Gerorge II copper, and...to top it off I poped this out, I knew it was old from the weird edge, but didn't want to rub the silver so kept it with me dirty all afternoon, that's fun all in itself, keepin the mystery alive.

Now my oldest coin, and a silver at that.

End of story.

Re: GEOII copper and...

Yes I second UMRGolf that being a KGI Shilling based on the date... plus the William III Shillings have abit different back to them. Congrats  and good I.D. Jeff

Re: GEOII copper and...

Easy mistake to make, I briefly looked at it and thought I saw "1730" myself at first. :laughing9:

Very nice 1720 KGII Shilling Rick! :notworthy:
Bet it was worth having cold hands for that eh! :laughing7:

nice site you've got going Rick!

I really can't remember seeing one of those dug in Canada before.......you know I always like seeing those different coin finds!

I hope there's more there waiting for you

There's always something good to come when you keep hitting the areas the old stuff is found. You're only looking at maybe a $50 coin, but those are about as tough to dig in this part of the world as a $5,000 coin! You'll have a hard time beating that one for both age and condition.

Now that's pretty sweet, makes me even more bummed out about not getting out this weekend!

Let's just say I'm not expecting to.
It will likely end up being my best coin find of the season.

Yes it was worth the cold, as time is ticking away on grassy sites.

I would bet on it. All the shillings I find are 1800s, never found one pre, and would take it over most Spanish that turn up.

And I am out digging horse tack :tongue3: ;D . Great George I shilling  As others have stated don't see to many of those posted ! I would love to put one in my hand :icon_sunny: Condrads Rick ! You deserve it  MaineRelic

Thanks MR.
Don't know about "deserve", but I did put in some real effort for it. A lot of holes, and about 50 old coppers in the making. It's a banner find for me. Looking forward to the next old silver though.

Great shilling. Hope to find one someday. :icon_thumleft:
