After reviewing my maps for a week or so I had a chance to drive to the actual site. Owner pulled in and immediately I was granted permission to hunt the fields on either side of the house. He told me the house had been in his family for 200 years. I was excited, but 17 acres is alot of ground to cover! Immediately getting on the field I saw hundreds (literally) of pieces of OLD glass and pottery shards. I felt goosebumps! As I hunted though, my hopes fell. No silver-no buttons- just a few wheat pennies (1939 and 1946). I also found the world war 2 dog tag of the father of the man that gave me permission! He was happy to get it back and keep it in the family! I also found a true dog tag (for a dog), a perfume case, two old marbles, a brass buckle, some rivets, canning jar lid and the usual 20 pounds of garbage that comes out of homesite. The weather was great and just nice to be out again!

Actually the owner, because of giving him the dog tag has given me full reign of the property now, including the yard, which up till now has been off limits. He is also an avid hunter and fisherman with alot of local ties to the community and he will be asking on my behalf to go some other placxes. He also told me they plowed the field today really deep and said come on over anytime...looking for silver soon! I'll keep ya posted. P.S. Thanks for the info on the Model T-radiator cap. Never would have guessed that...Thanks!
