After reviewing my maps for a week or so I had a chance to drive to the actual site. Owner pulled in and immediately I was granted permission to hunt the fields on either side of the house. He told me the house had been in his family for 200 years. I was excited, but 17 acres is alot of ground to cover! Immediately getting on the field I saw hundreds (literally) of pieces of OLD glass and pottery shards. I felt goosebumps! As I hunted though, my hopes fell. No silver-no buttons- just a few wheat pennies (1939 and 1946). I also found the world war 2 dog tag of the father of the man that gave me permission! He was happy to get it back and keep it in the family! I also found a true dog tag (for a dog), a perfume case, two old marbles, a brass buckle, some rivets, canning jar lid and the usual 20 pounds of garbage that comes out of homesite. The weather was great and just nice to be out again!

Excellent finds and looks like an excellent site. I am sure you will be finding plenty and be able to spend some quality time there. Good luck.

Great hunt you made there. Very nice finds..

you have some intesting finds there. keep us posted if you get back....Matt

Nice find on the tag & the return to the family, there's gotta be some silver somewhere, good luck on your return trips!

Can't wait to see more finds. I love finding the marbles! congrats on getting permission!

Keep going back to that site. The more you dig it, the more junk you will get out of the way of the good stuff. If you're finding wheats, it's only a matter of time before the silver and gold show up.

Your picture shows that the site has a lot of potential.

Mr. Magoo,
nice group of artifacts.

Seems like that could be a good location.

Keep us posted; hope you find a bunch.

That place is holding. With what you have found it is just a matter of time before you find something
nice. Life is great when you have a good spot. Congrats.

Nice job giving the WW2 tags back to the homeowner! Might open up more spots for you!

I'd be willing to bet there is some silver there.... look for indications of where a laundry line might have been hung. Check around big old trees. Find out where the outhouse used to be and hunt the walking line to and fro, as well as the area around that. Any old paths to any outbuildings. Surely there has to be some old coins there!

Keep us posted!

It sounds like the field is rich in material culture. You will find something of interest eventually.

The house looks great. It seems very fertile, almost supple, there amongst the trees.

After metal detecting the fields, you should consider seducing the house.
i agree with plehbah id seduce the ground immediately surrounding the house first!!!

A great hunting spot for quite awhile. Nice finds.

A great gesture on your part to give a piece of their family history back.

I assume the owner won't let you hunt the yard? Let's hope that's not the case because you just know there's some good stuff just waiting to be found!
