I'am Jeff Stafford from N.W.Arkansas
Have been hunting arrowheads for 26 years
This is one of my favorite Dalton points and they dont come along every day
The reason I joined this board is because of respect for the Western Eastern Treasure Magazine, back in the day before computers I could hardly wait for the Magazine to come out,I use to metal detect.
Since Eastern Western Treasure Magazine site links to the site
BOOM here I'am......... :icon_thumleft:

From your location,do you ever attend the monthly knapping get together at this site?
http://www.missouritrading.com/
I went one time a few years ago.......................I dont attend to many gatherings.
My main concern at the moment is getting my Calf Creek/Cossatot Site exposed to the right people.
God forbid I die<I hope>...............and that Site goes back to nature.
Don Dickson does attend that Knap-In some.........................
But I'am more interesting in getting new Site's for Arkansas Archeology...............since most of the land the Sites are on are not for sale any way..................
Does not mean I cant keep my artifacts........................but some of the Sites I hunt on,have barely been tapped into..............

Welcome aboard Jeff. Good to see you finally migrated over this way.

Welcome Jeff. Nice to have another hunter/collector.This place is filled with them. Nice Dalton. Would that be the Colbert style? You are right they are very hard to find unless you are on e-bay. I find the bases a lot and have only found one decent one. Good luck on your sites and welcome aboard.

Thanks TnMountains.................
I think the term Colbert Dalton is used for East of Mississippi River
I think it was a Dalton that never had any damage in the haft area,so the base did not become indented much.
You can see this base style every so often on Daltons for sale............even when they are near 2 inch
The Sloan Dalton site in N.E.Ark has some of the Daltons with a base style like mine.......

Welcome Jeff, Its been a long time. Glad to see you over here. I think youll like it here, and you bring some great knowledge with you. John

Killer Dalton!

Daltons are extremely rare in ND. I've only heard of two being found and those were identified as Meserve types.

Welcome Jeff, nice to see new members join our family.

Molly.

Thanks for the replies everyone............
Coteau................Dalton's are plentiful in Arkansas,Not always easy to find.......but out there in the ground some where.
The Breckenridge Dalton was typed here in N.W.Ark a terminal<end time>Dalton.......
So the Dalton point lasted a good 1000 and 500 years here<perhaps a little longer>with Breckenridge<no clear ending date on Breckenridge>..............even though broken Dalton are the most common found.
