Hi folks… and a very merry Christmas to you all.

I thought a little introduction would be in order, having just joined up to your site after some years of being a passive observer.

I’ve been a collector of rocks, fossils, minerals, meteorites, artefacts and curiosities for more than 40 years now. I also collect coins (mainly ancient), but have a special interest in ‘alternative/primitive currency’… things used as money that aren’t coins or notes, including tokens. In my earlier years I also did a bit of part-time work for an auction house, screening job lots of household clearance junk for items that would achieve a better price if sold individually.

I used to metal detect years ago, with a device that had the functional performance of a magnet on a string and have only recently returned to the fold with a Garrett Euro Ace. My goodness… how technology has advanced.

I live in Surrey in the UK, about 25 miles SW of London and travel a lot (even more so since retirement), often using travel as an opportunity to add to my collections. I hope I can helpfully contribute and may also be posting some items on which I need your collective assistance.

Thank you for your hospitality.

Welcome to the insanity! It is a disease, there is no cure except the required maintenance items. Detector, batteries, pinpointer, finds pouch, etc!

Enjoy our knowledgeable family.

Welcome from across the pond :hello: The UK is a pretty great place to be metal detecting from what I hear. Certainly a real historic place!
