Howdy all,

I am the brother of John37115 and Uncle to Caleb-in-TN, I'm just here to defend myself. I've been hearing about how much fun John and Caleb have been having here at treasurenet telling folks things like they've been skunkin ole Uncle Kirk. Well they might have got lucky a time or two, but as I recall I put it to 'em both a view times... Yep, I'm as crazy or crazier about this mistress we call metal detecing. I Got so hopped up reading treasure hunting stories online the other night that when I finaly did hit the hay, I dreamed I was pluckin' gold coins out left and right. I woke up tired but by the time I had a cup of coffee and that first cig. I was ready to hit it, Well, I didn't find any gold that day, but I did find my first barber quarter in an old church yard just down the road. Brother John and I had found a number of newer coins there, a view wheats and an old gold plated sunday school pin. Needless to say this old quarter made my day. It's got a pretty bad nick on the side. I don't think I done it as I learned a long time ago after nicking a 1914d wheat as a boy,  that you best back off the pinpoint mark at least 3 or 4 inches and cut a nice little horse shoe to keep from makin' such bone head mistakes. Anyhow, I'd like to post a few more recent finds from the {Grandpa of the South} which is the oldest fairgrounds in the state of TN. I've found some real nice dimes there in the past few weeks. Well, this has been fun and I feel proud to be a new member here.

Welcome to the net. I may be moving to your state in a few months. Not likely but I did apply for a position there in my field of work. Lots of competition for that one but I am hoping. If I am successful, it will be a big change from beaches to mountains. I have been a big coin and relic hunter in the past though so I should do well.

Keep us posted on your finds and let us know how things are going there.

From KirkPA to KirkTN, "Welcome, KirkTN. I like that name. It kind of sounds like KirkPA, but with the TN after the awesome Kirk name. Since everyone loves me on here, they will love you as well. Heck, you have the same name as KirkPA, but are from a different state. Take it easy, KirkTN!" :D

KirkPA

LMAO ;D ;D reminds me of a script in a movie I just saw but can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Welcome and sweet Barber.

From KirkPA to KirkTN, "KirkTN, you are a great person and your detector choice speaks for the professional character you display. Heck, you also swing the White's Pro XL, kind of like KirkPA. Take it easy, KirkTN!" :D

Welcome to the forum from an American in Germany! Congrats on the silver Barber coin. It may have been hit by one of those machines that poke holes in the ground to aerate the soil, I found a coin that has two small dimples in it this weekend, thought it was used for target practice, LOL. HH, Mike

Howdy All,

Well, I am amazed at all of the replies to my first post. This really is a lot of fun. I'm glad I got signed up. I'm not sure how to reply to all the post individually or if you can, this is the first forum I've been a part of. If I miss responding to your post just know I've read them all and I'll get better at this. I thank you all for your replies. It's encouraging to visit on line with others who are hooked on metal detecting. I laughed my arse off when I read the ones from the KirkPA, IDig4Beer and Mona Lisa. I can already see there are some characters on here. Well, I went out this afternoon with my brother John37115 and my son Will and tried to do some relic hunting on this old farm where the story is, civil war soldiers camped. We all had on double layers of clothing and gloves and It was freaking cold and I'm pretty sure now, that I'm not worth a crap at hunting relics. found a few fairly modern lead bullets and a bunch of worthless garb. On the way to the truck, as the sun was setting I did find a rough old 1919s wheat about 6" down. Anyhow, I'm sure if we happened upon some old 3ringers or maybe CW belt buckle it would be an all new High. All that being said it was a cold and tiering yet fun day. Thanks again to all of you for the warm welcome!! KirkTN

Welcome KirkTn. Isn't it funny how you usually find the best finds either your first dig of the day or on your way back to the car. I don't really understand what happens in the middle, just sort of a blurr.

Welcome to Tnet, Uncle Kirk! Sounds like you're gonna be posting great tales of your adventures, and I look forward to reading them!!

Nana :)

And yep...I was ccccoooold today!!!

Welcome Little Brother Kirk. Isn't it amazing how our Dad instilled things in us as children that we come back to today. Metal Detecting was the thing we done that meant time to spend with Dad. I see you doing the same thing with your son Will and I'm proud of you. I will say after todays hunt that boy is tougher than a pine knot. When I was his age and out with dad for 5 hours in the cold like we had today I would have been crying and wanting to get in the truck. He hung in there like a Trooper. No luck today finding those CW relics maybe the next hunt.

Yip, it is funny how you come back to things you loved as a kid. I do believe Will is gonna be a diehard detectorist before it's over. So far with his little Titan 1000 he has found a some pennies a dime and cheapy gold plated watch... I know it makes him feel like a little man when he goes with us.

Thanks for turning us on to Treasurenet, this sight is awesome.

Brother KirkTN
