New Kind of Cache Hunting

There are still cases where older banks closed and long forgotten, still have unopened safe deposit boxes in tack. No, you will not find them everyday, but they are out there, as revealed on the history channel a few years back. :icon_scratch:

I would think that the banks would contact the renters of the boxes, or not, drill the boxes, and do what is need be with the contents.

People move, get married, & die. So noone to contact. Knowing what we know about how banks operate. They're gonna do only the minimum thay have to & if they're going under, they're not going to pay a locksmith $95 for the call & $29 per box to take a nose puller to open them. If they're going under more than likely it's the old "pack your sh*t & git!" ;D
