I actually reached this forum when I was searching for spanish shipwrecks, and out of curiosity I started to read about metal detecting. I was instantly hooked and spent the last week just reading threads here.
Next week I get my paycheck and I am off to buy my first metal detector, so I doing a little research now to figure out where I am gonna start searching.
There are a couple of beaches here that are very popular during the summer, but all of them are small. I also know about some closed schools that where built around year 1800 and closed around 1950s or so. There are also lots of churces here, I know one was built around 1100, others around 1400-1800. I doubt that I get to search all these places before the snow comes, so I have to choose what area to search now, and do the other places when spring comes. Since I am new to this and I know that many here are very experienced, what place would you go to first? Anything I should keep in mind when I am out there looking for treasure? What I would really like to find are old coins and jewelry, but I guess there will be many rusty nails on the way.
