New in SE Iowa

Hi all. Recently retired, exploring new things, and decided to give detecting a try. Found a good deal on a lightly used detector, and the guy threw in a pin pointer and shovel. Grounds frozen here in Iowa for at least another 6 weeks. Discovered this site and looking forward to getting some tips. Live in an old community on the Mississippi River so expect there are things to be discovered. Will start with my yard and the neighborhood then try sites along the river. Best to ya.
