Hey everybody. It's been awhile since I've posted anything but I've been doing a little research and this is what I've found.I actually lucked into this.I was looking for information on something else and came across info on this place.I'd never heard of this place before and so I started searching and asking questions. This was a trolley park that opened up in 1895.It was a booming place back then. They had boating, swimming, tennis courts, baseball field,a roller coaster, dance pavilion, midway,a big swinging bridge and several other things. This place is huge. Then when automobiles came out the trolley business slowly died and so did this park. From what I know this place closed in the 1930's.All the buildings are gone now but the foundations are still there.Sadly, some people have used it for a dump and others have used it for a party spot.I've made a deal with the owner to clean some of the trash for the privilege to detect this place.Anyway,it's just a few finds so far but I'm thrilled just to be there.I found my first Indian Head pennies-1881 and 1886.Also found a 1913 wheatie,I think that one is a hat pin and the other is part of a bracelet that once had a stone in it.Couldn't find the stone. My brother found a 1913 barber dime.Sorry,I forgot to take a pic of it.Hope you all enjoy the pics.

Oh, yeah! Look under the roller coaster. Great place, just have patience with it.

Your research skills are very inspiring. I can't wait to see what you find there.

Thanks for sharing the process of finding a great potential location and obtaining permission. That's something I really want to learn how to do.

Thanks everybody for your comments.I can only hope that this site is a fraction as good as the "iceburg".I do plan on hitting the midway and roller coaster sites pretty hard but there is alot of trash to sift through.Beer cans everywhere.People have been dumping tires,tv's and other assorted trash down there for a long time. It's sad.I hate to see such a beautiful place trashed like it is.I going to suggest to the owner to install a new gate on the road into this place to try and keep people from dumping anymore.Again, thanks everybody and take care-I'll keep you posted.

With the potential of a site like that, I would rent a Bobcat for a day and clean away all the surface trash. Easy swinging after that, plus the owner would like it clean and you would have an invite for a long time.

WOW great spot, love the old postcards. I have researched a spot very similar to that one near my home. Unfortunately this area has been developed somewhat though a park still remains there, heres a couple of pics, good luck with your sweet spot...Shoot1.jpg2.jpg

Looks like a great spot to hunt, what days are you not going to be there ;D

Look's like you got your hand's full for a long time!!!!.....I can just imagine what's to be had there.....Nice job!!...HH and do keep us posted on this place, look's like a happenin' place.

Get a water detector and hunt that swimming hole to the left of the bridge in the top photo!!! If you have to, rent one for a week! Let us know what else you find there. It sounds like a large site!

I know that working with trashed over sites is difficult, but with the potential of this site....WoW! Take your time ...do small areas ...clear the surface, dig the shallow trash , then go for the good stuff.!Congrats on a great find....Joe

Wow, just looking at those pics has got my swingin' arm twitchin'. Yes ma'am, you've got yourself a site there fer sure!

WOW--good for you. Can't wait to watch your experiences with this wonderful place unfold.
