New here... and this is what I found today

Hi all. I can't tell you how long I have been lurking here, but it's been months and months. I finally got my first md last Thursday. I have played around with it in my backyard a few times in the last few days and this is what i found today.

I think it may be the top to a pill box but I figured I would pass it along for other opinions.

Veru nice find! I would imagine you are correct about being a pill box lid, maybe even a cosmetics lid of some sort? Keep looking nearby, maybe you'll get the other half...

ahhh you know what? It does have two round marks on either end on the back. It must have been a pin. I feel stupid now. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies all. I about peed my pants when I found it. I had no idea my backyard was such a hot spot. In two days of digging I have found three wheat pennies, a nickel, four matchbox cars, this brooch (which appears to be a mourning brooch after some investigation), a marble, and an oven knob of all things. The rest was nails, foil, screws, and unidentifiable junk.

I have to wonder if the brooch is worth anything or just a cheap piece of cosmetic jewelry though.

its hard to tell from the photo but it looks like it might be worth something. i would take it to a jeweler.............nice find by the way!
