Hello all.
Relatively new to metal detecting, as I really didn't think about it until I moved to Virginia about 5 years ago. We tend to metal detect as a family, more so my son than my daughter. I am in the Fredericksburg, Virginia area, so there is a lot of American history around here. I enjoy reading about the Civil War and hope to find some nice relics.
We recently bought a Garrett Ace 400, and before that we used a Teknetics. Been doing much better with the Garrett so far.
Best find so far is a Confederate Script "i" Local Button. We find lots of old iron that I have no clue what it is, which is one of the reasons I joined the site. I will have to lean on a lot of the veterans here to figure out what I actually dug up. Also wanting to learn about cleaning and taking care of the finds.
Looking forward to seeing everyone's finds and hearing the stories behind them.
Jim
