Nice artifact, NJ has yet again made a awful law from Fish and Game, I was told by "land management director" that Metal detecting on WMA areas in NJ is no longer legal with or with out a permit starting the first of 2014. This also includes Indian artifacts. I was told a conservation officer gave a 1500.00 and confiscated a persons metal detector until the fine is paid in full. (guy had a 1200.00 Minelab) Figures I start a new hobby with intentions of hunting Indian artifacts in the spring and the "state" decides no one has the right to find and keep any kind of historical finds. Of course some of these "public property WMA's" were some of my best hunting spots!

WMA's Had always prohibited MDing as far as I know!? You could start another thread on "General Discussion" about NJ WMA's.

Great artifact, When I go MDing I always try to look for spear heads, arrow or hatchets. Never do I get lucky...... Hmmmmm I do recall something though, I think I will post it!

Yeah i dont see what the big deal is..around here in the river bottoms companys are all the time running into bodies and stuff and calling archys and i just want to look for artifacts. But theres laws for us who love history and not for companys wanting to build on the land where they were buried it seems. So im an outlaw anyways and i think its bullpuky that they even have laws against..sounds to me like they dont want something found that might change history. So ill go anywhere to hunt a long as its not a landowner then id ask for permission but let em come find me while im walking through a creek or something

Beautiful tan inclusions in that flint. I bet Mr. Paleo was miffed to lose that nice point! Congrats on a super find. Sub 8-)

Detector or not, most of us are always hunting. Nice find.
