Lol, I had my suspicions. We are new to detecting and enjoyed the momentary thrill before realizing it was probably a fake. Thanks for your help.
Well welcome to the forum and to one of the greatest passions one can have.
You're one of many that have dug one of these and posted them up over the years.
Still a thrill when first seeing it in the sand/a nitro moment thinking it's the real deal.
 

It is a reproduction, they are fairly common along the east coast.
 

Looks like a brass colour in the photo.
I believe you have what is better known as a cheap copy of a Cobb.
Folks throw them out in water and sand for detectors to find.
Damn. Those people must be BANNED from all beaches. So spoke a detectorist.
