New Dive Product Testing

It's official..........you never see the shark that gets you. I was out this week and was drifting with the wind blowing the boat and I was hanging on the anchor covering plenty of ground .

I often look behind me as a matter of common sense as well as checking in case I missed something. Lo and behold I start to look to my right and a very big Tiger shark ( about 12 ft) just goes cruising by about 6 ft away. If he was hungry or worse pissed off I would not have seen the sneaky chap ha ha.

Just proves that they Always work out what direction you are going in and approach from the rear. Great to see such a wonderful beast close up and they are well named, the stripes were very dark and noticeable.

Heh sadds...
And you know something... that "pit in stomach" shock when you first see it like you did never goes away...
When they sneak up on ya like that it just unnerves me ...
No matter how many times it happens ... tis always the same result.
The same way if you open your front door to walk out it... and someone you do not know is standing there.

I hate and love the feeling. I love to how graceful they swim. I hate how they can take me out in one bite.

sent from a sending device.

Even just a dolphin, sidling up besides ya, can give you a heart attack! :laughing7:
I almost had one, and I was on the boat, watching a fin heading toward the Mr. while lobstering on the side of the channel.
I jerked the anchor(slack tide), cranked the boat, (I was only about 50, 60 feet away), and then the two dolphins surfaced. Whew!
When I got to him, he said they made him almost poop his pants, when he caught glimpse outta the corner of his eye. :laughing7:

They'll put you in jail in the Keys, they catch you with bleach and/or Dawn dishwashing liquid, on a boat, especially if you are in the water with it!

Where are you located?

Yes - one would have a problem if caught with bleach or certain soap onboard while diving. That is state wide. Not just in the keys. They also look for the gray stain stuck on the gelcoat
from ringing tails onboard.
A boat close by us years ago diving for bugs was boarded and to jail they went.

Nice. Im about 60 miles west of Bimini. I see poke them (sharks) all the time while shooting fish.

Interesting connection here, I dive Deans blue hole very often and about a dozen big Tarpon nearly always come over close to check out the diver ha ha

When their are pods of tarpon on the beach here - the bulls are with them.

Maybe that's why they are in the blue hole, a bit tight for Bulls to function and there is an ample supply of tropical fish to eat.......

We fish Boca Grande Pass during snapper season, we're usually just drifting the pass, and trying to dodge all them yacht's, with tarpon on the lines.
There's supposedly more hammerheads in that pass, than (I believe) any where else in the US, maybe the world(not exactly sure, Belize has a lot, too)
When they let them Tarpon go, they will usually get slammed by a shark, they're just weak from the fight and vulnerable.

That's why I won't dive/snorkle/spearfish/lobster under the bridges, canals, docks, etc...... Middle Keys a few yrs back, the tourists fishermen pulled in a 300 or 400 something lb bull shark, been making our marina and salt water area, his territory. I'm little, and would only be an appetizer for them, LOL.
The Mr, would be a full blown meal. :laughing7:

That blue hole is just beautiful Sads! :notworthy: I might hafta jump on board with Terry for a little trip. :laughing7:

P'Cat come on down, this area is like the Caribbean should be, no traffic, friendly people and no distractions to upset a quiet vacation.....
