Well I picked up a used E-Trac on Saturday, and I am trying to learn all the sounds and readings. I went out Sunday for a bit at a place I have hunted, and picked up a 1945 Wheat Penny. I also got permission to hunt at a country church that was built in 1923. I was not expecting to find much because it is on a busy road and I fiqured it has been hunted a time or two. And the church has had some new additions and fresh sidewalks and parking lots put in. :BangHead: ... Found the usual trash and clad, then I got another shallow penny signal and dug up the 1928 British One Penny. I first thought it was a clad half dollar until I looked closer. It was about six feet off one of the freshly poured sidewalks, and about 2" down if that. I believe it was pushed up with some of the work that has been done. The other keeper was a 1934 Silver Washington, my first silver with the E-trac. It was in the front of the church in a "gravel pit" and it got scratched :tongue3: Very nice to find silver quarters. Thanks for looking and good luck with your search to find lost treasures.

Would love advice on the best way to clean this Big Copper Penny. An any advice on using the Etrac too. I ordered Andy Sabisch's book today. :icon_thumright:

The book will help you out a lot...at least it did me. Doesn't hurt that I have a friend that had one since the first day the Etrac came out. I can't help you much with the numbers because I never look at them. Every time I hear that high, crisp tone I just drop to my knees and start digging.

The only thing I can tell you is there is no such a place as a " hunted out " place with the Etrac. A buddy and I have been hitting the old fairgrounds here that dated back to 1850 and I have seen numerous people detecting in this place over the years. Just in the last three weeks we have pulled out around 30 silver coins...Two of which are Seated dimes and one large cent. It seems any place is a good place to go with the Etrac. Give it some time and have some patience and you'll fall in love with that machine.

Good luck and good hunting....
