I met a local Whites Dealer through his wife who works at.the post office. He invited me to a Wednesday morning breakfast gathering of fellow treasure hunters. After breakfast, I was introduced to the waitress who always takes care of the group. She was told that I too used a metal detector. She commented, "Oh,, you're one of those guys!"
Yesterday I stopped at a custom Shirt Store where they will put anything you want on a shirt
I ordered a sweatshirt that says, "I'M ONE OF THOSE GUYS!"

Lol....that should get some laughs with the locals. Sounds like you are meeting some good people...good to hear

I have been blessed so far with the people I have met in this town. From my neighbors to the guy in the hardware store and everyone in between.

I met a guy at the hardware store, an older man who worked there, and we talked about metal detecting for nearly an hour. He even had a silver dollar that he found in his back pocket for the past 15 years for good luck. One of my neighbors at my old house (the only good neighbor) was also big on metal detecting, and coin collecting, and a few other guys I knew also liked metal detecting, including a local police officer. I moved in June, hopefully I will meet some great people in my new town. Though I already got a spot on the Historical Society, and have written some stuff on local history for the library.
My next door neighbor, who has lived there since the early 1980's, brought chocolates, peaches, and is going to bake a pie for us, I scored having her as a next door neighbor :laughing7:. I also already found a few colonial cellar holes less than three miles away, I have only been to one, and it only compares to one other site I have ever been to. I like my new town so far :).

Here in Michigan....I will get excited with my civil war finds and mercury dimes....cause I'm not getting close to any colonial cellar holes...lol. Unless I plan a long trip!

I may not be finding cellar holes just yet but every permission that I have gotten and a few that are on the Horizon are definitely lifting my spirits. The treasure hunting catalogue of search areas is becoming well stocked.

What's the fun in stopping now?
