Someone suggested that I have another contest so, since I am kind of bored, not being able to get out and search as much as I wish I could, here's another fun contest for you all. There will be three prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd closest guesses.
This contest is to guess how many quarters I have found so far this year. That includes all of them, US clad, US silver, and Canadian. I live here north of Detroit so I do find quite a lot of Canadian coins.
Why am I doing this? Well, because I can for one
Here's my pile of clad that I found this year so far.
There's about $385 face value there, my total found this year to date in 134 hours of hunt time.
Here's the rules.
- The three closest guesses will win the three prizes.
- Contest is open to all TreasureNet members.
- Post your guesses in this thread only.
- In the event of a tie, the person who guessed first will be the winner. If there is a edited guess, the "thread modified on" date will be the one the counts for ties.
- Please try to guess the total number of Quarters (25 cent pieces) that I have found this year (January 1st to July 31st).
- I will PM the winning number (total quarters found by me this year to date) to PBK tonight and he can verify it if needed later on so no one will think there is any favoritism happening with the choice of winners.
- If I hunt from now until the contest end, those finds will not be counted in the total.
- I will take guesses until Tuesday August 7, 2007 at 12:00 noon EST.
- I will post a comment in this thread at that time closing all guesses or edits to guesses.
- That night I will announce the winning number, announce the three people who are the winners, and start sending them PM's requesting their choice and their mailing address.
- First place winner will get to choose one of the three prizes.
- Second place winner will get their choice of the two remaining prizes.
- Third place winner will get the remaining prize.
- I will pay for shipping and mail out the prizes to the winners via First Class US Mail.

Sorry that the photos don't really do these justice. It's the best I could do with my camera. I don't have a scanner unfortunately. All three are metal detecting finds of mine from my 30 years of detecting. The condition of all three are around FINE condition, better then good but not extra fine. I think each of the coins has a retail value of between $10 and $20 dollars. I will put them each in a coin trapper prior to mailing them out to help protect and secure them during shipping.
Here's some more photos of the clad pile. I put a US Coin Red Book in there with the prizes for scale. About $385 face value in that pile.
I keep my clad in a big ole plastic pretzel container. It's almost full. Here's a photo if that. It weighs a ton.
It doesn't really look like that much while in the container but after I dumped it out to take the photo, it was about 100 double cupped handfulls of coins to put them all back in the bin.
