Found a new colonial site to hunt today. Unfortunately its a field with corn stubble so it will be hard to properly detect this year. Got some musket balls, buckle pieces, tombac button, lead seal and what looks like a musket butt plate. Certainly not a loaded site but time will tell

Nice. Looks like a lot of potential for many more great finds.
 

Any idea on what those numbers represent?
 

I have several permissions that are corn that have been chiseled. I’ve hesitated to try them and wasn’t sure if it was even possible. Chiseled beans are so much nicer.👍🏻

Probably to indicate how much was being “sealed”. Be it bales of flax , yards of fabric, bags of flour or whatever. They do not pop up often for me as most lead was likely repurposed. This one is more basic than the others Ive found
