Relic Hunting
After two years of talking with the landowner of this very historic house in SE Virginia, I finally got sole permission to hunt this location that was built in 1801. The house was used from 1862 to 1865 as a headquarter for a general officer and 5000 Union troops. I was told by the landowner to not give out any more details than that. I was given a two hour tour of the 100 acre site by the landowner before we could hunt, but I was just honored to be there so that did not matter to me. When we cranked on the Minelab Etrac and Garrett AT Pro things began to get interesting! In all me and Bill found 20 musketballs, 2 King George, 1831 Braided, and 2 Matron Heads. Silver Butter Knife was Bill's and what a great find that was. This was only a two hour hunt because we ran out of time. We are headed back tomorrow for a 7 hour hunt so I am hoping for a lot more. The cool button for me was the German Military/Doorman Button that says Seehalde Gott Walte which stands for "God Presides over Seehalde" All indications lead to this coming out of Bavaria.
