To raise money for "affordable housing" a bill was introduced and went through to add fees to real estate recordings.

California Legislature passes affordable housing bills

Of course JERRMOONBEAR loves it...the recorders offices and counties not so much.

Of course the hoopla on some mining group sites is that it will increase costs of your mining claim recordings.

I don't think it applies. As you have a claim on the minerals. The theory put forth by some is that claims are considered "real estate"

Clay?

Too bad it will never happen :BangHead:

Your probably right BUT.........if there was a strong enough movement among the motherlode / eastern sierra counties for state hood and if Trump gets a second term in office it might have a chance. After all, most of these Ca counties voted for Trump to begin with. Unfortunately, as so often happens in California now, the small hand full of high population, very liberal coastal counties set policy for Sacramento these days.

California, What a surprise. So glad not to be there.

You're a good man for donating your time!

Unfortunately mentors like you are hard to find.

My claims are in Rye Patch, NV in the 3 most desirable sections.

I only sell to pay the maintenance fees on the claims we work.

Actually don't like to give up claims as there is most definitely gold still to be found.

It's not like I'm making some huge profit.

Claims are real estate as declared by Congress if I recall (Clay Diggins correct me if I'm wrong).

I think locating claims correctly as a new prospector is VERY difficult.

Easier now but in the beginning no way.

What exactly is N1/2SE1/4SW1/4 and how does that translate to a county map in some drawer?

You know what I mean lol.

Anyway I'm listening Goldwasher.

You old-timers have my respect my intentions really aren't evil.

Why do you pay maintenance fees if you work your claim?

I would love to come ou and meet up with you i've never detected near Rye patch always wanted to PM me if that nmight be possible.

The store is only open FRI-Sunday now. I will have time ioopen after deer season.

Be glad to have you!

Probably teach us a thing or three!

I've got over 10 claims so no SMW for me.

Rye Patch is a great place to detect and dig.

ahh that explains it!

the thought of having ten claims....rarely crosses my mind

:laughing9:

I bet.

I think we need a survey.......

What type of survey are you considering?

Appropriation

What type of survey are you considering?
The following should help you with a survey.
Appropriation:
The costs of the field and office work incurred in the execution of the surveys herein directed, within approved official regulation, are payable from the appropriation: ( give the exact title of the applicable appropriation, fund, or deposit, together with citation of the act of Congress under which any such deposit has been received).
This is found under special surveys and instructions if you would like to read for yourself. One should also read about "Title", "Preliminary statement", "Limit and character of work", "History of earlier surveys", "Method and order of procedure", "Diagrams", and "Field notes, plats, and reports".
The above will be a lot less involved process if there has been a "Resurvey" in that area.

lets have a Survey
is assmember on the wrong forum? _x_yes or __no

Best to move the above posts to a forum thread about 'Appropriation and Surveys'. Two different topics.

yes

Yes.

Any post with the word survey in it needs to be in say a sub-forum.
Good idea as this has nothing to due with "Recording fees".
Will have to include around 200 other terms as well such as "Accretion, Base line, Cadastral survey, Corner, Closing Corner, Meridian, Field notes, Latitudinal curve, Location, Magnetic declination, Mine or underground survey, Monument, Plat, Placer claim, Range line, Regular subdivision, Standard lines, Township, Township line, True meridian, Witness corner, etc. All of these terms are from "Surveying" and more.

California, What a surprise. So glad not to be there. California sucks The best thing I ever did was move out of the place. :censored:
