Thought KK was about Thomas J. Beale; with a "description" of HIM in the BEALE PAPERS; on the OTHER hand, as "Just" asked... Thomas Beale, Sr. or Thomas Beale, Jr.?If, Thomas Beale, Jr.... I can see why Julia Hancock didn't care for him. I am sure Thomas Beale, Sr. wasn't amused, and called Julia a "Ho". HER daddy George was not amused, and "retained" JB Risque (who WAS fond of Julia) to defend HER honor... BUT! Beale, Sr. & Risque had a DUEL in Fincastle, Va. Risque DID NOT "arm" his weapon; wasn't gonna hurt or kill Beale, Sr. (knowing the LEGAL implications); Risque was wounded... Julia went on to marry William Clark; Beale, Sr. FLED to New Orleans, and Jr. later followed; all THIS in a "nutshell" from Botetourt County history, etc. Will have to go back to Buchanan and Fincastle, Va. for MORE info. LATER!

Was the duel in 1806, or 1817 how old was Judy in 1806, how old in 1817. Thomas Beale Jr.died in 1823 in New . What Beale was surveying in fincastle in 1824. How old was Judy,and whos surveying. Coffee..

HISTORY; from SEED-BED OF THE REPUBLIC: SOME EARLY BOTETOURT HOMES by Robert Douthat Stones , p.403-404; "PENDLETON: This was originally, and afterwards, the home of the 'BEALES'." PROBABLY called FOUNTAIN BLUE; at the base of Purgatory Mountain, EAST of Buchanan, Va. There is a Judge Allen Taylor, who married the second wife & widow of John Beale (Sr. or Jr.?) TWO kids of John Beale (Sr. or Jr.) are mentioned... Charles T. & Mary (1st marriage). "The lovely daughter of the house, the famous beauty, Miss Mary Beale, was not more noted for her charms than for the number and character of her lovers." YO MOMMA! (Wicked Grin & WINK)

Going to attempt to explain some things about the Beale papers, up to you weather you wish to accept it or not.
First and foremost, the Beale Papers are about the never ending battle against two elements, socialism and tyranny, and they are also about the never ending pursuit of Liberty. So basically it is about the never ending battle that must always be fought to insure liberty. This, in a nutshell, is the "perilous enterprise" that the unknown author made reference to in the Beale Papers. All of the names in the Beale Papers were indeed involved in that perilous enterprise, as were many before them and many after them. The money that is mentioned in the Beale Papers, as well as the money mentioned in the Laffite Memoirs, was just a fraction of the total money that was eventually invested in countless places. This other money is now worth many, many times then that portion which is said have been buried in some secret vault or excavation in Bedford County, Virginia. The Civil War is also mentioned with very good reason, as this was a conflict involving many principles within the DOI and Liberty. Everything Tat has made mention of thus far (and there is much, much more) plays into the total scope and magnitude of just how far-reaching this cause was, and perhaps, still is.

Bigscoop .....I can tell by your manners and your research that you are a wise veteran treasure hunter,I will never seek the beale treasure(too old) but I like you, would like to see this resolved one way or another,...I notice there are many here claiming to have solved the code ,but again they seem to hang on here seeking information.I only can surmise and guess,but one thing I am sure of is the treasure when put down was very real.Bottom line sir for your input on things my hat is off to you....Ken

I do remember seeing that guy on decoded. He needs to change the name of the show to Decoding,cause I haven't seen any thing decoded.

(GRIN) Back from the Shenandoah Valley; it was Thomas Beale, Sr. who fled to New Orleans after the duel, according to many sources, including Peter Viemeister (RIP) in HIS books on the Beale Treasure. Thomas Beale, Jr went to New Orleans and may have come back to Botetourt County, Va. and married TWICE. Thomas Beale, Sr. ran a HOTEL in the French Quarter, having served as CAPTAIN of Beale Rifles in the War of 1812; Pascal Buford was CAPTAIN of HIS artillery in New Orleans (War of 1812); of course, Gen Andrew Jackson & the Lafitte Bros
(Jean, Pierre, & Alex) served in War of 1812; in fact, Alex was CAPTAIN of HIS Artillery in the war of 1812 with HIS experience as directing cannons in his "pirate" days. AHOY MATES! I DO believe they ALL knew each other. (GRIN & WINK)

Correct....they all knew each other. And, at this battle they are all fighting for the same cause, or perhaps more accurately, they are all resisting the same socialist aggressor, that of a tyrant. Of great importance here is the location of the battle, which is New Orleans. This is going to play in VERY heavily on the type of things you should look for in your further research. In the Laffite memoirs, during George Graham's visit/secret mission to Galveston Island we are told told that, "George Graham wasn't aware that General Lallemand was under oath to New Orleans." Now this is in 1818, more then three years past the battle of New Orleans and just a few months in advance of the signing of the Adam's Onis Treaty and the first deposit. How ironic is it that Jean Laffite made certain he was always positioned on the front lines with both of these world tyrant's, Britain & Spain? Or was it ironic? How is it possible that a privateer and smuggler was called to Washington D.C. to discuss & debate the terms of the Adam's Onis Treaty with Adam's, De Onis, & Monroe, even including the subject of prisoner exchange? What was the oath hanging over General Lallemand's head and what, or who, was that oath owed to? Lallemand was standing right next to Napoleon when he surrendered, how is it that General Lallemand was able to escape and find safe passage into this country just as many other prominent French notables had managed? The web is quite sprawling and the list of names is very, very long.

Basically, this type of clandestine civilian operation has been going on long before the official creating of the CIA. In his memoirs Laffite tells us a great deal and he references many names & events, he also tells us that he sacrificed a great deal so others could do good work, without leaving his name. The "unknown author" of the Beale Papers did this same thing. Laffite was a civilian when he sat in the previously mentioned meeting with Adams, De Onis & Monroe. When he was preparing to depart Galveston Island for the final time he claims that he only "recommended" to Mr. Hall, Mr. Sherman, Mr. Campbell, and those of Bolivar to keep to their promise and distribute the gold to the indicated places. This is because he could only recommend this action, as he could not directly order it. What is currently being uncovered is absolutely amazing, to say the least, and the list of prominent and influential names, and events, is absolutely huge.

(CHEESY GRIN) Naw... It is the NSA (National Security Agency) which has been looking at the BEALE PAPERS, Beale Ciphers, & Beale Treasure since WW II; they even sent ppl to Lynchburg, Va. asking ppl about it. HA! NOW, it could also be Central Security Service... DUNNO. CIA is INTERNATIONAL! AND! NSA was BRIEFLY featured on the DECODED show (on DOI) saying the Beale Treasure is UNDERWATER in New Orleans (Katrina); I think it was the FIRST U.S. MINT down there... NOW a museum. AND! CIA didn't even EXIST back then! LOL! (WINK)
