Beaches have been pretty sanded in around the home area for the last week or so which has been frustrating to say the least! I decided to bug out and drive a bit further out to a couple of beaches I haven't been to yet hoping for better results and I wasn't disappointed! Here are the finds in the raw prior to cleaning:
First location:
Second location:
And here it all is cleaned up:
Ring is marked FORGED Tungsten, kinda figured since it sure didn't sound like gold or silver! Found a couple of those now this year.
The three things I'm looking to find out more about (other than the "rust cookies" that I will bust open tomorrow...) are the:
1. Pewter plate. (if it is pewter..) Only found that large piece and two smaller ones. Not sure if it is a newer, decorative piece or something older. Leaning toward newer as finish on it doesn't look like something that has been in the drink for a while. Your thoughts?
2. Large rusted oval piece. First though was that it was a part to an anchor chain or buoy but it is actually flat and not round. The edges are rolled in a bit and it looks like some kind of eyelet for mooring lines that was on a ship or pier. Ideas on this?
3. Large flat bone. First thought was maybe from a whale or large sea animal but really not sure. Can anyone ID this one?
Thanks again for looking!
