Anyone from Oregon, found nice detecting site, small town had old mill with over 6000 residents, town burnt down and everyone left, turn of century, reply ill tell you where it is maybe ?we can go together. Talked to my dads freind who has been a resident of banks oregon for 20 years, said the old town is over 100 years old. alot of old houses halfway in the ground, possible detectors paridise. I am going to go check it out this weekend, Ill keep you posted.

Old town is 10 min from Banks Oregon

Sorry, i don't. Just wanted to welcome you aboard. Lived by newberg in 79,80.
Found my first 2 V nickels in dundee. Good luck on the town. Hopefully the coins haven't sunk with the homes. HH

Kool welcome to the forums! Go dig that site. Sounds old enough that you should dig everthing good luck

wish i were closer to oregon i would take you up on your offer. it sounds like a great place to hunt. good luck with it.

I might be able to meet up with you and check it out sometime. Its a ways for mr to go but considering a site thats over 100 years old I imagine I could find hundreds and hundreds of nail. Give me a little more info and I will see what I can do.

the town is 10 min from banks oregon, its in the town of timber, I am gonna go today and check it out. the reason there were so many people living there at that time is because the mill. after the mill burnt down and took half the town with it everyone left. I will probably have to get some permition from some people, they are all hicks so i dont think they will mind. Ill keep you posted. if you wanna go timber isent hard to find go out highway 26 west till you hit the little town of timber, alot of old buildings you cant miss it. it looks like an old western town. my dads freind said i need to go in the woods there and find old houses that are abandoned. we will see wish me luck.

Sounds like a great location and I wish you luck in your hunting. Oh you might be suprised at what these hicks know about. Take your time and talk to anyone living in the area who will talk to you, that in my opinion is the best way to learn things about good sites. You never know maybe they know the location of the old bank site or something.
