Today I heard from my firend at City Hall. He gave me tacit permission to shallow water hunt a city lake that use to be an old swimming hole from 1908 until 1955! There use to be a park, zoo, and swimming beach there that attracted thousands of people from several counties. Has not been detected, at least the water portion as no wading has been allowed until now. He said it was ok with parks dept and would only need ok of city manager which shouldn't be a problem. I have a deal with the curator of the City Museum to donate any artifacts but I get to keep everything else. I am saving this one for next spring. This is not a good place to cool off as the water is polluted with those darn Canadian geese that have taken up residency in the past few years. They are nasty critters! I was having a hard time finding a place to detect....well, a good place but I have struck pay dirt recently including a several block area where an improvement corridor is being built over the next two years. No idle time for me I'm afraid and glad all at the same time. Monty
P.S. Didn't go out today for the first morning in a long time. A cool front came in with a rush, 40 mph sustained wind from the North and temps falling into the 20s. Hard freeze tonight but it could be 80 again by tomorrow aftrnoon. That's the way the winter time weather is here.

Looks like you got your work cut out for you. Not a bad problem to have.
I wish you well. :)

Sounds like a great deal Monty!!! Good luck!!

Looking forward to seeing your finds!

Nana ;)

your really raking in the hunting spots lately! theres got to be some awesome stuff at this place! if it were me, id buy a good pair of waders and hit it now! i wouldnt be able to wait until spring!! good luck.

Hollowpointed, normally I wouldn't have the patience to wait either but I have so many other projects that need to be done over the fall and winter, I won't have time! Isn't that a terrible position to be in? A month ago I was wondering what in the world I was going to do this winter, but now......! Monty

looks to me like your gonna be knee deep in new hunting spots till the end of next summer! i guess there are worse problems to have! i cant wait to see what you find.................even though i will probably be green with envy!!.............if you need any help covering all of that "new territory" i can take some of it off your hands for ya!! ;) ;D

Sounds good Jim!

I wouldn't wait till spring to hunt. Things might change and permission closed. Plus geese in the spring get nasty..... :o
Don your waders and get in there now. Don't show anyone the good stuff just the junk and a couple coins.

I use a three pocket "goodie pouch." The pockets are deep so stuff won't wash out. One for junk, one for coins, and a thinner one in the middle for gold. I sometimes have slip the gold into a special shirt pocket with a flap while wearing waders and never bend over. After I scoop up gold I NEVER look at it but slip in away so nobody is the wiser. When asked by a fellow TH'er I never tell them I found anything good unless they are a good friend. They might just head out somewhere else and leave the beach for me. ;D Ain't I nasty?

Sandman
