Why, stacker, I believe you've removed a couple bricks from the wall. Keep going, and when the wall falls down, you'll see clearly to the other side. Congratulations, m'boy.

i doubt that the king had every single mine or miner under his control.it was open country and sure there are hundreds or thousands of unrelated stashes hid out there.

In fact, he had none. However, for a time he had the taxes on mining proceeds under his control, and since he had a monopoly on the sale of the mercury necessary for the recovery of precious metals from raw ore, he knew who bought it, how much, what the recovery rate was, and the amount of taxes that would be due to him later. This he could control and did.

You are correct that there was undoubtedly some renegade mining occurring, but nowhere near the level you speculate. Mining was a very expensive proposition requiring skilled labor. The richest prospects were in central to northern Mexico. Still are today. There was a small amount of Mexican mining occurring in today's American Southwest, mostly in the early 1800's. These wildcatters certainly did not leave their proceeds behind here - they took it back home with them, of course. And, most assuredly, the so-called 'King's Code' was not used here or in Mexico - there was no need for it. It didn't exist except in the imagination of treasure hunting writers. That said, there is a code existing here in the Southwest that relates to some valuable caches, but it has nothing to do with the 'Spanish', except by camouflage.

Yes, essey, common sense can be a handy tool now and again.

Hello Bev, have you considered it as being KGC , I have seen the roughly carved holes on known KGC sites. There should be a stream that flows to the north and has a 90 degree turn to the east, if so look on the north side for more information where you can look down the stream to the south, good luck

Hi Bev
Heheh..you have stepped into an unexpected world I see :). But it often comes down to the obvious...it points you follow.

I found the link I was thinking of and surprised to see it includes many RI examples. Not exactly like yours, which seems unique to me. Still..hope it will be of interest! Check out the photo gallery, it lays out common types of formations you may run across out there.

Looks to be interesting...the web-site's host (shapiro.anthro.uga.edu) is not responding, at least for me. Is this another "gotta be a member" to look/see?

I have been able to finally access part of the web-site and have found it very interesting. Those "Indians" must of been a lot more nomadic than we have been led to believe. :laughing9: Thanks!

cw thanks for posting the videos..I had not realized there were videos. They sure makes me wish I was there with him. It is making me look at some things out my way a little differently. That one video is a lovely piece of work , the way the rocks are placed for ..open space. Makes me wonder if it is astronomically related.

Odd, yep interesting for sure.
