I have a thing for old hotels!
I've ID'd a few in my area....two of which date back to the mid 1800's!
Another dates to the late 1800's (and was a Speakeasy during prohibition!). Annnnnnnnnnd.....not only that, but the ORIGINAL place where the hotel used to dump it's garbage (down a steep berm) is still there....as well as the garbage (under a layer of fill). I have a buddy who lives within 150ft of this 'dump site' and he has quite a neat collection of colored glass bottles etc... He says that, for some reason, he's found a number of old, beautiful deep blue Pepto Bismol bottles. he says the refuse pile still remains and I'm more than welcome to rummage through it. This same buddy hooked me up with the current owner of the old speakeasy hotel for permission.
And surprisingly - all three structures remain today.
And I already have permission to hunt 2 of them (one being the SpeakEasy).
I like hotel locations. High traffic. High turnover of guests. Way back when, it was typically folks with money who frequented the hotels. They walked the grounds. There may have been outdoor events. You name it!
