This is a two part hunt, the first was with my eight year old daughter LLK (Lucky Little Kid) we went out looking for artifacts in a local field and we found one complete Brewerton point and on the way back to the truck I got this question "Am I supposed to pick up stuff with holes in it"? I responded with my normal yes, pick up anything that doesn't look like it belongs in the field. This usually results in sorting through twenty pounds of rocks, trash, and misc. stuff on the tail gate; but we have fun. This time what did she find, a pendant/gorget with two drilled holes. I have been doing this since I was a kid 30+ years now and have no drilled artifacts yet! The second hunt was earlier today LLK didn't want to go with me she had to paint her nails for school tomorrow! I went to a local spot for about 45 minutes and dug .77 cents in modern coins, a 1946 silver Roosevelt dime, and a 10K class ring from a school abut 40 miles away (sorry for the poor photo). All summed up I had an exceptional weekend, now its back to work for another week!

I learned about holes like those, :icon_scratch: they are not drilled at all. :o Its from water drops 1000's of years ago during an Ice age. :icon_thumleft:

Nice finds, I have a few myself... Its good to spend time with your daughter too. :hello2: :headbang:

Keep @ It and HH !! ;D :D
looks like a gorget to me. Can you take a pic and zoom in on the holes? GH

I removed my comment 2nd guessing myself. :icon_scratch: I'm not sure but they look natural. :dontknow: If you look close you could see drill cuts but... :icon_scratch: If you see solid rock layers and no cuts its natural. :icon_thumleft: :headbang:

Keep @ it and HH !! ;D :D

Just had local artifact collectors club verify the holes. They are drilled and not a natural geofact. Thanks for looking.

Great artifacs. I found an arrowhead myself just yesterday, although not in as nice a shape as yours. No coins to go with it though.

good finds, good luck on finding the owner of the class ring if you are returning it

Used Facebook of all things to track down the owner of the class ring. He got a little miffed abut me calling him. Said he gave the ring to his then girlfriend, they had a fight, she threw the ring at him, nine years later I found it! He bought a second ring after losing the first one and gave that ring to his current wife. I apologized for bothering him and gave him my phone number and email address, he told me I could shove the ring (we all know where) for all he cared about it! Now the ring has a home in my gold and silver box, with the rest of its lost/found friends.

Wow..........amazing the spectrum of reactions people have when you want to give something back! I guess his anger is your gain. At least he provided a great back story for the ring as well!

The best finds of that hunt were the arrowhead and the holed artifact anyway...all the rest is a lot of icing! :icon_thumleft:

congrats on getting to keep the ring! You just cannot please some people no matter how nice you are!

Thats funny, :laughing7: but rude... :tongue3: I can understand being upset about the ring but why take it out on you :dontknow: your doing him a favor. :icon_scratch: Oh well at least you got to keep your find !! :o :headbang:

Keep @ It and HH !! ;D :D
