Need some input on the old 6" tripple keene

I MUST apologize as never taken me sooo long to find pics, post help. 2013 has been nuttn' but death, destruction, corruption, convalution, major illness, paralysis and complete mayhem for me and my whole family, clan and associated crews. #1 NEVER EVER cut a jet be it power or suction no exceptions. I'll post them 6" pics of mods to try and help some, later than ever but yet again sorry. Sorry mixed up-can't get nuttn' right this year. #1 is a part of a notched lock/lift gate about 12' doen where the complete river was forced into one side in a rock wall-look and see the wall. The goodies were found after the lock was opened, nuttn' big but ponndage of fines 50-300 mesh in a tripple. #3 was taken to show scale and depth with back against the wall. That 18hp Briggs IC with that special P-350S high dome was the best-bar none when I lathed, hydrohoned and cleaned up them veins-of any pump I've eve run. 30' of 6" hanging straight down-can't find that pic yet-with jet and extended nozzle 32' from a single orafice jet hahahaha LOVED IT. #2 only pic that shows(found anyhow) that all 3 boxes evened in length, 3 0 gallon barrel strapped to center box at the end to float flater and provide better stability for a tender to work the box. Hahaha what a laugh as look at#4 as see that 1,623 foot cliff was climbed twice daily and NO ONE stuck around for more than 3 climbs all summer. From last pic also you can see the great stability of those 3 pontoons down each side and middle barrel provided. No problems. The header holes in the classification screen must be stress releived-you do not want l l holes you want V-take a 1 2/2" bit and break them top edges or nuttn' but plugged within a half hour to 45 minutes later and then fines going down the middle box. BY the by see that 30+" middle extension added on--big expanded metal over miners moss and ALL SUMMER ZIP NATHA NUTTN. Punchplate dropped down into box about halfway and them riffles caught great nuggets under punch and first couple a riffles. BIG flap went into box middle at least 2 feet FANTASTIC for deaireation as that pump put it out there. That header was a SEMI FLARE-not crash and not full faced flair either and especially for a tripple where velocity is hard to keep it went just fine. Countersink was only needed within the header as once the flow was split 3 ways the ungodly force wasn't there to smash them rocks into the classifier holes, lock and plug. Got company at 8 for cards and I loves my poker. Again G1 I am sorry man but life got me by the ............ for quite awhile. And I will take a swivel nozzle anyday and in every way, relief flaps on 5" up save wrists also,I'll add another pic to show what happens when ya don't have'm hahaha-had to have'm both elbows rebuilt due to torn, shredded tendons and ligaments-anything that makes your job easier DO it as EXCRUCTIATING painful 2 ops, $50,000+++ 18 months of physical therapy to even drink a beer without a straw but ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo so much fun----John

Haha, John you use a straw to drink beer? Maybe try drinking it through your nose next. Yea that's the same set up we used except we had a pontoon where your drum is. I do like drums :) Also I do agree on the jet but if it's that far down it won't hurt to cut some off. Is it the best thing to do? No... but it's a crash box so it will still work. If I was over 5 feet deep with a ton of motor behind me I would use a flap but for shallow under most circumstances it's not needed. I would rather see a throttle control at the nozzle over anything else.

Luv throttle control-you saw the one I made for Linden Dahlke 8" at lakehead. Be it manual, electric, hydrolic sure makes gettn' them rocks off the nozzle easier. Balancing the controls on dual engines most vexing as on this 10" to produce even pressure. With huge 8 gallon gas tank on that 6 a mine and max depth, length a hose pretty much 90% all the time and no worry about running outta gas. Wasn't it such a cool world then Reed--crazy young men and their amazing dredging machines. 186 days straight in 93-no days off from cutting trails in cliffs, lowering monsters, pulling apart and piece by piece back up that ungodly hill, not to mention 150+ gravel suckn' days in a row,but poundage everywhere where no man had gone before---with a dredge anyway--hahahah-John

Sorry to fear your having such a rough year !!!! Hope it gets better soon !!!

Thanks for the pictures they r a great motivator ..
I don't understand the purpose of the paddles in the front of the side boxes . It seems to me that what ever makes it through the punch plate is going down the boxes either way those paddles r turned ... So what's the purpose of them ??

Putting in all those hours,of dredging why did you never end up in nome??
Thanks again for all the info as it stops me from having to learn the hard way!

Yup those were the days, pounds a day and even ounces a day just walking a trail and picking up nuggets like Hansel & Gretel more than once. The paddles deflect the material and the water to spread everything evenly down the box when adjusted right. That was a nice 8" Dahlke and you just can't beat the throttle at the nozzle ever :) Wish i had my 8" on the river right now... I was talking to a friend today about Larry. I just about bought his 8" Precision before he did and then after he passed his wife offered it to me and it's still there waiting for its day to come again. He was on his way to Costa Rica when i told him about the scam they were running on Americans down there and we had I think Ken or Bill check into it for him and he found out he was a target instead of a soon to be rich miner.

Amen brother, seems like another world,so carefree and productive and LOUSY gold prices didn't even matter. Fun fact-CDFG ran a full study all summer below my dredge and within 2 years the best spawning results on the whole bloody water coarse. They blew up a dam and tried like crazy, spent millions and not even 50% the same results. Same as Chuck Piccard on the New River after 12 years with his 12" they kicked him out as it was then classified "the most pristine salmon spawning grounds on the whole river system. Same same with Cantara spill 10 year $50 mil study-dredgers feed the fish to much and they get fat was the worst they could come up----and now we're bloody CRIMINALS???????? sssssssssssssssssssssssssssst-John

Wild Injustice - YouTube

Wow sure shows how corrupted blm and law enforcement are
It ashamed there was never a investigation as to why or what evidence was used to raid and search these folks personal property ....
Reminds me of couple of years ago I got pulled over for not wearing my seat belt.. Wasn't really a big deal until the cop started getting rude asking me a bunch of questions what I had in my truck any weapons drugs ect. I answered a few then he pissed me off and ask me where I was going . I ask why he needed to know .
He just told me he. Was conducting a investigation . I ask for what why did he need to be investigate me .. He never answered ask me again where I was going so I told him it was none of his dam business . Well ended up arresting me for interfering with his investigation ...
They droped the charges .. Next day but I could get nowhere trying to get a answer as to why he needed to ask me any question he also searched my truck ...found nothing of course but he did so illegally I never gave him permission and he never had a warrant . I'd never been in any kind of trouble never anything .
But it seems to me our freedom is only a illusion we are the only country where we have a city that limits the size coke you can buy ..
Or be harassed by police and arrested for no reason ..... That was the only time in my life iv been handcuffed and taken to jail and it was as stupid as it gets ....
And it seems there nothing we can do to stop it...
I was on my way to pick up my children from school .i don't drink smoke anything pop any pills nothing like that but I guess I had the wrong attitude that day and that was enough to cross the line!!!

Yep yep, thats why I am going off the Grid ASAP. Maybe even in another country if there is one that is safe and stable . Live off the land foraging , small crops, hunting, fishing, and of course dredging/placer/hardrock mining... Pay for everything I can't grow/produce myself with preferably gold or silver then if I really have to use cash...

Wow I just watched the wild injustice vids. All of them got my blood boiling but I think the one about the porcelain Buddha heads was the worst... Like the one guy said it really was just a huge experiment on human nature that once again we failed at!! The gold prospector of course thought it was his day, the government made sure it wasn't by playing all sorts of dirty tactics.

Check this out

We're going to float this dredge in the creek on our property the first time to check it out ...
Well my son has informed me he wants to run it the first time .. He's told me several times he thinks there's gold in it....
There's a old grist mill on the creek kinda makes it a little mysterious to him .so this weekend I ran down to crisson gold mine to pick up some parts and I pick up 20 gal of cons from them .. And of course I dumped them in the creek where ill have him run it .... Haha I know it's mean but he will have the the entire neighborhood down there panning I may need to pick up some more cons to put in there when he's done !
Here's some picture of his new dredge hole!

Jus' throw a lil'indoor/outdoor carpet on that plywood as gets slicker than snot. Run dredge without addins first as you may well be surprised. Start as far downstream as you can from that mini waterfall as gravel sucker will rip up gravel REAL fast and before you knoe it your outta room. Bring shovelers for tailings as the it a gonna fly-John

Yet another question

I'm working on extending the center box and i am wondering if a over under setup would,be wise here
What do ya think?

Sounds like you're reinventing the wheel...
If you did, you would want to change your front screen also to graduate them all in size.

Ok box is extended and iv moved the riffles to the back as well my intention is to run 1" expanded metal under the punch plate in the front part of the box where the riffles use to be Under the punch plate ! I just don't see the benefit in having the riffles under the punch plate .... So ill cut some angle iron and weld it to the bottom of the punch plate to hold down the expanded Metal and creat traps like in one of read vids. .... What's wrong with this idea if anything?

Here r a few pics...

Also in my defense on wanting to creat a drop box here is I think of how many flakes ,large ones I use to pull out of my second stage area of my 4"

3stage and thought maybie a drop box would have helped some with that ....but I understand...

Yea, but you already have the drop box in the side boxes and that's where all of the heavies are going to go. If you see a lot of black sand in the center box then it will need some adjustment. Other then that all of the fine gold should drop into the side boxes leaving nothing in the center box except the larger nuggets and pickers. Setting something on top of the expanded under the punch plate is a good idea or you could try some ½" woven wire like Keene uses today in the main box. If you have material, I would put a longer damper in the center box. I have friends who put them in the side boxes also but I don't remember if it helped much other than killing the air bubbles.
