We were poking around in the yard and found this thimble about 12 inches down. It has the raised text "Mizpah" on it and it has upside down flowers around the base. A little Google research tells me that mizpah is Hebrew for watchtower. But aside from that there is very little information on thimbles with the word on it. Property dates back to the mid 1800s. Does anyone have info on materials? Date? Manufacturer? Basically trying to find any info I can. Thanks for the help! Also, I'm not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me but there appears to be an "M" inside the top of the thimble.

Quick update. I'm cleaning it up and it turns out it is a copper thimble. Which gives me even less to go on. Here are the updated photos.
