Need some help

Hope it works out for you. I have about as much fun tinkering with mining equipment as I do using it.

Right now I'm experimenting with ways to modify vortex matting to catch a little larger and more varied shapes of gold. Up to now Vortex has had certain limitations when it came to trapping gold over 1/8". So far I've found some pretty easy mods to solve the issue that work great during workshop testing, but only field testing will tell me If I've perfected the "ultimat" modifications.

Same goes for your dredge modifications, only real world testing under actual dredging conditions will tell you if your ideas will live up to your expectations.

What looks good on paper doesn't always work as desired.

GG~

In talking about the woven mesh that you want to place over GH mat.
I heard it suppose to work best with the material clasified no bigger than 1/2" If you want you could go for bigger nuggets but with regular riffles at the end of the sluice. You can almost do something like the double clasification sluice from dave.

As you can see I like a long length of punch plate but I still have a few riffles exposed just in case a big nugget would make it down that far. :tongue3:
My punch plate is cut the wrong direction too but I was buying scrap and took what was available, I also added a trap onto the end of the sluice to recover any fines that would have gotten away. (the punch plate over the trap is cut right)

Nice setup.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone posting suggestions. I can see how my equipment in some regards is just fine and in other ways needs a little work. I'm not shure which direction I'm going to go but the pictures help.
