Hello All. Found this tonite on my last hole about 16-IN down a few miles from the St. Johns River in a small town lot here in Central FL.

It is brass, about 5 x 2.5-IN, and about 1/8-IN thick. I don't see anything listed on the net regarding the "RAYMOND LIFE BOAT CO." I am thinking it was a demo pc to indicate the thickness of their steel??

Cool find...I hope someone can shed some light on it. Thanks for the view and Good Luck out there. C9

It could be off of a boat, or it could be off of boat equipment..There are a couple of Raymond Patents, but here is one of interest:

I too would assume its off one of their boats.

I think, at the least it was attached to something. If you look closely at the backside where the holes are, you can see the metal is hmm..."stressed"(?) in that direction, like there were some bolts or something passed through where it was attached?

If it hadn't been attached to anything, I'd think the metal would be more even around those holes.

More "modern" type...

BTW... The correct term is "vessel builder plate".
