Need some help on this one !!!

Acquired these pieces from my Dad's estate. They were soaking in plain water for a long time and the water dried out leaving what you see. Can anyone advise what the best way is to clean them up? I have no idea what type metal they are or what the stones are. Any help is much appreciated.

appears to be brass or white cast metal on the bracelet.rings probably brass.try a soft toothbrush with warm saop water 1st. then if that don't work i myself would use a fine brass bristled brush found in the paint dept at wally world. that's just me i'm sure others will chime in soon

If the stones are stones, don't worry as they will be hard to hurt. Put them back in water and see what comes off. Try a tooth brush before you try the brass brush. If the metal is silver, get some jewelry soak stuff at wally or the better and stronger coin cleaner at a coin store. This stuff is acidic, so watch things. You should only need a couple of minutes for silver or gold to start looking a lot better. If the stones are plastic, then unless there is sentimental value, don't worry about it--do what seems to clean it but the acid may etch the plastic. Or melt it into red goo.

JMO It looks to be 1940's costume jewelry. The stones appear to be glass. Very pretty though

The long piece appears to be a woman's bracelet. It might be plated silver, or if your lucky it might be very dirty sterling silver. At worst it may be pot metal? See how it cleans up and what it looks like after cleaning. If it's silver plated the thin coating of silver will flake off during cleaning process. Sterling will shine up nice.

The ring most likely is costume jewelry, probably plated too.

Can't make out any markings on it if there are any.
As for cleaning....what options do I have ....or should I soak them in some type solution?

Paste "jewels" for sure. I'd not toothbrush this, but rather for eye appeal's sake I'd use aluminum jelly on it. That'd make it into a great piece for a display case. Take a look at my post in Cleaning and Preservation on cleaning buttons.
